Across all of them, the median was 30,000 miles, and that figure is not published on other brake cost pages.
A brake job with pads and rotors on one axle of a midsize car runs $290–$450 in this calculator, and $580–$900 for both axles. Shop type moves one axle from $248–$393 up to $407–$608, and the heaviest service level reaches $500–$900.

The brake caliper appears in 17% of Brake Job complaints. On this calculator, moving the front axle from pads + rotors to the caliper-level service raises the estimate from $290–$450 to $500–$900. A 2016 Mazda CX-5 owner told NHTSA that Mazda would "charge them $500 for a brake job to correct collateral damage caused by their defective parts," and linked that bill to a passenger-side caliper. If your quote includes a caliper, compare it to the $500–$900 tier. The pad-only figure is the wrong benchmark.
